Master of Public Health (MPH)

School of Public Service Leadership

General Public Health specialization

Deepen your knowledge of public health concepts, theories, and practices, and hone your ability to work collaboratively with other public and private sector professionals whose work often intersects with the field of public health. The curriculum, developed around national public health curriculum standards, uses a multidisciplinary approach that emphasizes environmental public health concepts; psychological, behavioral, and social factors influencing population-based health disparities; principles of epidemiology and biostatistics; public health administration systems and processes; and economics. Choose elective courses from other MPH specializations that reflect your interests and professional needs. A collaborative project involving local public health organizations is integrated into the curriculum, providing you the opportunity to gain practical knowledge of relevant organizations, programs, and policies. People who choose this specialization are often pursuing supervisory or managerial positions in government, private, or community-based public health organizations.

MPH Degree at Capella

November 22, 2010Felice I was really hesitant about completing my degree completely online, but after deciding to do so, I must say that this program is equivalent to attending class in person. The knowledge base of the instructors in the MPH program is an excellent resource to have in achieving my career goals. It takes dedication, but, I am enjoying the courses. I am truly happy to be a part of the Capella Family. Felice Dixon
