Residencies

Residencies are required for:

  • All PhD programs
  • Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)
  • Education Specialist (EdS)
  • Post Master’s Certificate (PMC) in Enrollment Management

Residencies are also required for these master of science programs or specializations:

  • Addiction Counseling
  • Clinical Psychology
  • Counseling Psychology
  • Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Mental Health Counseling
  • School Counseling
  • Career Counseling

At residencies, you’ll interact with faculty and peers on a new level, implement courseroom theory into practice, and connect on a personal and scholarly basis. You will learn from and inspire each other, participate in small and large academic sessions, clinical skills labs, and panel discussions. Some residencies incorporate online learning with face-to-face interaction to provide a unique knowledge experience.

Beginning in 2010, the PhD Colloquium will consist of three steps:

Step 1: Colloquium Courseroom (opens approximately two weeks prior to Weekend Experience)
Step 2: Weekend Experience (3-day residency)
Step 3: Colloquium Courseroom-Assessment and Evaluation (one week post Weekend Experience)

The December 2010 Weekend Experience begins on Monday and ends on Thursday.
The December 2011 Weekend Experience begins on Tuesday and ends on Friday.

What do they cost?

The price for a colloquium is $1,495 per event for events scheduled to begin after July 1, 2009 (pricing is subject to periodic adjustment).

Note: This does not include airfare or hotel costs, which are the responsibility of the learner. Learners are also responsible for meals and for making their accommodation and travel arrangements.

PsyD - Clinical Psychology

For learners beginning the year-in-residence 2010

Clinical learners begin their year-in-residence with the two-week Extended Seminar I in June. During the next year, learners attend eight weekends-in-residence. The 2010-2011 Weekends-in-Residence will be held in Minneapolis. The Year-in-Residence ends with the two-week Extended Seminar II the following June.

2011 Extended Seminar

What do they cost?

The price for the year-in-residence is divided into two segments:

  1. As of July 1, 2010, the total fee for two 2-week extended seminars is $6,530, which is $3,265 for each two-week extended seminar (pricing is subject to periodic adjustment).
  2. The fee for the Weekends-in-Residence is charged at the rate of $275 per weekend. The total fee for eight Weekends-in-Residence is $2,200 (pricing is subject to periodic adjustment).

Advance your research and academic experience in the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program

Unless otherwise noted, all DBA residencies are held in Chicago, IL. The three-day residency begins with check-in from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, and with an opening reception following from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sessions start promptly at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, and end at noon on Sunday.

  • April 29-May 2
  • July 29-August 1
  • October 28-31

What do they cost?

The price for each DBA residency is included in the quarterly tuition. Hotel and airfare costs are not included. You are also responsible for evening meals and making arrangements for travel and accommodations.

MS School Psychology & Specialist Certificate in School Psychology

School Psychology learners begin their year-in-residence with the two-week Extended Seminar I in June. The next year, learners pursuing their MS in School Psychology will attend 2 Weeks-in-Residence in the Fall and Winter Quarters, respectively. For learners who are pursuing their Specialist Certificate in School Psychology, they will attend an additional Week-in-Residence in the Spring Quarter followed by the Extended Seminar II in June.
