Preparing for Licensure

Once you have determined which degree program meets the educational requirements of the license you want to obtain, you should:

  • Review and understand the additional requirements for licensure
  • Regularly review the state licensing requirements for changes that may occur
  • Network with professionals in the field
  • Join and become active in professional associations
  • Locate and secure a practicum and/or internship site (if required)
  • Understand the post-graduate fieldwork experience you will need to complete
  • Think about what will need to happen after you graduate in order to obtain a license
